An old-fashioned English family favourite that goes easy on the wallet: use your left over bread to prepare this easy and delicious strawberries bread and butter pudding
{Strawberries bread pudding}
Ingredients:
- 500 ml milk (2 cups)
- 80 g sugar (3/4 cup)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 vanilla stick
- 24 slices bread (old is good)
- 50 g butter, room temperature (1/2 stick)
- 350 g strawberry jam (12 ouces) or 18 ounces fresh strawberries plus 4 tbs sugar
- 3 eggs, medium size
Directions:
- Place milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla in a medium saucepan, and bring to boil. Set aside, and let cool to room temperature (discard cinnamon and vanilla sticks)
- Grease an oven proof pan with butter
- Spread butter on one side of each slice. Then, cut the bread with a cookie cutter (optional)
- Place a layer of bread on the prepared pan with buttered side up (do not leave any gaps if possible, use the ugliest bread cuts for this layer)
- Distribute jam evenly (or chopped strawberries with sugar) over it
- Top with another layer of bread slices, beautifully arranged (remember, butter side up!)
- Beat eggs, and mix with infused milk
- Pour the milk and egg mixture slowly over the bread and let it soak for 15 minutes, while preheating oven to 350 º F (180 º C)
- Bake bread pudding for 30 minutes
- Remove baking pan from the oven, and let it cool slightly before serving with vanilla icecream, cream, or fresh fruits

Loved your presentation and actually was the reason I decided to try the recipe, the first time that I got stuck with a great bunch off left over bread.
This is how my bread pudding turned out:

I really enjoy your work and I follow you with great pleasure.
for the vanilla stick, does it have to be seeds still in or can it be a used pod?
