Cowboy party - Fiesta de cumpleaños vaqueros
Reward bags, and the lone ranger rides again. Ok, this time, he just walks.

Today I wanted to share with you my oldest’s son birthday party. This time I organised a cowboy party, and their cowboy food came inside a reward bag: homemade milkshake, milk buns and chocolate bars. The party decorations can be downloaded here for free (at the end of the post), thanks to Lola Wonderful. And, in this same post, if you scroll down, you will find the recipe for the milk bread buns. Enjoy!< Cowboy party - Fiesta de cumpleaños vaqueros

If the cowboys did not behave well, they could end up going to jail. The girl in the photo was the worst of all

Saloon. The cowboys were thirsty, and wanted their double chocolate milkshake

And now let’s start with the cowboys games. The winners had a gold bar full of sweet treats

The little cowboys improved their shooting skills by throwing stones at tin cans. Please make sure your little cowboys know the difference between a tin can and their fellow’s heads

With their water pistols, our little cowboys washed the Slob Cowboy, who hadn’t had a bath since the Gold Rush.

Finally, our cowboys took part in several horse riding competitions. You can buy the stick horses here, or make them at home following this step by step guide

{Milk bread buns}

Ingredients:

  • 500 g strong bread flour
  • 25 g fresh yeast (or two sachets dry yeast, about 8 g)
  • 250 ml milk
  • 70 g butter, room temperature
  • 40 g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbs honey
  • 1 pinch of salt

Directions:

  1. Put the flour and yeast in a bowl and combine.
  2. Pour the egg, honey and milk into the bowl. Add the sugar and salt
  3. Add butter and use a large spoon (or pastry scraper) to mix everything together.
  4. Take the dough out of the bowl and knead. You will feel the dough become elastic after kneading for about 5 minutes. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes more or until the dough is soft, pliable, smooth and slightly shiny
  5. Put the dough into a lightly floured bowl and cover with a cloth. Let the dough rise in a warm place until its size doubles (aprox. two hours)
  6. Take the dough out of the bowl, deflate it by touching lightly.
  7. Cut the dough into 16 pieces, and roll each of them into an oval shape. Or alternatively, roll out each piece of dough forming a rectangle 1 cm thick. Cut 1/3 the length of the rectangle into 4/5 strips of equal width and roll up the dough as if it was a Swiss roll.
