A few days ago, my son Jorge told me: "Mom, you are very pretty! Like a scoop of ice-cream ... "
If this book had not been in the press yet, I would have asked for this sentence to be included in it. In another family this compliment might sound weird . But since last year my children have tested over 200 ice-cream recipes for the new book . So here you have
my brand new book "Polos y helados"which is definitely
the best book I've done so far.
Those of you who have tried already know how difficult it is to photograph ice-cream. First, how complicated it can be to get a good scoop of ice-cream . And then, to get a good picture of it before it is completely melted... To have a dog that, once you turn around, eats the ice pops you are photographing at the moment doesn't help either.
To shoot ice-cream professionals often use "tricks". The main and most widespread : to
use fake ice-cream. You can do it with a
mix of potato flakes and corn syrup, or with
confectioners' sugar and frosting. Even
with cornstarch and hair conditioner. No such substitutes have been used in this book: what you get, is what you see.
"Polos y helados"has 136 pages, and includes 50 recipes ranging from classic flavors : strawberry, chocolate, vanilla ... to surprising combinations such as carrot cake ice cream. The price is 13.9 €, and you can find it (Spanish version) in
Amazon France,
Amazon Italy, and
Amazon Germany. I will let you know as soon as it is available in UK and US :)
These are some of the recipes you can find in the book:
